Thanksgiving Turkey Cupcakes

It's Thanksgiving in Canada this weekend and I'm in Kingston (aka away from my family) for the second year in a row. Last year, the Boyfriend and I hosted a huge Thanksgiving dinner for a group of our friends (I blogged about it HERE). This year, we're making dinner again but for a much smaller crowd. The housemates all decided it would be fun to have Thanksgiving dinner together with everyone contributing something delicious to the meal. The Boyfriend is tackling the turkey again, and I made stuffing and dessert (same as last year!)

I had seen these adorable cupcakes a couple years ago online and I just rediscovered it among all my other recipes. They were just too cute not to make! They are a bit on the time/labor-intensive side, but the result is a cupcake that looks pretty incredible and will definitely impress your guests. If you have the time, I highly recommend making them!

Hopefully your Thanksgiving weekends are all spectacular and you are able to have a relaxing time. I'm thankful for all my wonderful family and friends, and I'm thinking of them all on this great holiday :). Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Turkey Cupcakes
Yields 12 cupcakes

Ingredients:
12 Cupcakes (You can make any of your favorite cupcake recipes to use as the base)
Icing/Buttercream (Again, any recipe will do. You might want to make something that will work as a good glue for all the pieces.)
24 oreos
12 mini reese peanut butter cups
12 whopper candies
60 candy corns, plus more for the beaks
Red and yellow icing
Black sprinkles (for the eyes)

Directions:

For the directions, I'm going to send you over to Our Best Bites since she has great step-by-step photos of how to put them together. She used double-stuffed oreos and just wedged the candy corns in there, but I found it worked just as well to use regular oreos, twist them open, and use icing to stick the candy corns in and reattach the top of the oreo. You can do whichever you prefer!

Enjoy :)
